This album was recorded during five concerts in Peking and Shanghai in October , the first performances of contemporary music ever given in the People's Republic of China. Tracks 2, 4, 7, 11, 12 and 15 were composed especially for this occasion. Mixed at the Ferber Studio on MCI equipment, mastered at Sterling Sound/5(87).

Concerts In. China. Introduction. In Jarre was invited by the Chinese government to perform five concerts in what was then a very closed country. The five indoor stadium concerts took place respectively in Beijing (two concerts) and Shanghai (three concerts), and the French musician had composed no fewer than seven new pieces especially.

Jean-Michel Jarre performed a handful of concerts in Peking and Shanghai in , marking the first time that a modern Western musical artist had played in communist China. Sensing the historical importance of the event (and the career milestone it represented), a double album of live music from these concerts was released the following year as Les Concerts en Chine.

  1. Red and blue labels reissue of this release. This double album was recorded during five concerts which Jean-Michel Jarre presented in Peking and Shanghai. The Concerts were the first performances of Rock or Contemporary music ever given in The People's Republic of China/5(94).
